Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu

Transfer by road to Samburu. Samburu National Reserve is a wildlife reserve in northern Kenya known for its unique “Samburu Special Five”—Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and beisa oryx. Located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River, it features a semi-arid landscape with contrasting lush riverine forests and is also home to large elephant herds, big cats, and diverse birdlife. The reserve is approximately 350 km from Nairobi, offering a more remote and untamed safari experience compared to some of Kenya’s busier park.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive as the landscape opens into parched plains, rocky outcrops and the Ewaso Nyiro River—a magnet for wildlife.

A full day of game drives and guided wildlife viewing. Samburu is home to the region’s unique species—the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and beisa oryx—offering a different, quieter safari vibe.
Drive south to Ol Pejeta, a premier conservancy known for its successful rhino protection programme and a chimpanzee sanctuary. Afternoon game viewing seeks rhino, elephants and large carnivores.
Travel into the Rift Valley and arrive at scenic Lake Naivasha. Enjoy an afternoon boat ride or a walking safari on Crescent Island to view hippos, waterbirds and grazing zebra up-close.
A short scenic drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Afternoon game drive in this famous park—home to rhinos, vast flocks of flamingoes (seasonal), leopards and thriving birdlife.
Continue to the iconic Maasai Mara. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive—rolling savannahs and abundant wildlife make this the highlight of many visitors’ journeys.

A full day dedicated to exploring the rich wildlife of the Masai Mara.

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives or a full-day exploration toward the Mara River.

Look out for the Big Five, large wildebeest and zebra herds, and the breathtaking savannah scenery.

Optional activities:

  • Hot-air balloon safari (pre-booking required)

  • Cultural visit to Masai Village

Overnight: Masai Mara

A full day of game drives in the Mara—excellent chances to see lions, leopards, cheetahs and large elephant herds. Optionally add an early-morning hot-air balloon with a champagne breakfast.

After a final morning drive, transfer back to Nairobi by road or scheduled flight for onward connections. We’ll happily arrange departure transfers or an extra night in the city.

Please note that this safari can be customized based on your choice. It can start in Nairobi and end in Nairobi or from Nairobi to Mombasa if you are going for beach extension at the Kenyan Coast. Our Tour Consultants will guide you on how to make your wildlife holiday better.
